March 20, 2016 was Colonia High School’s last showing of their spring musical, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, wowing the audience for the fourth day in a row.
Opening night of the production was on March 17th. You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, follows the life of Charlie Brown (played by Senior, Andrew Fugaro) on a few important days throughout the year. Charlie Brown is five years old and finding it difficult to fit in. Charlie likes to follow the rules and is known as somewhat of a goody two shoes in the eyes of friends such as Lucy Van Pelt (Junior Julia Paradizova) and sister Sally Brown (Senior Jessica Mocci). Throughout the musical Charlie Brown and his companions enjoy the everyday joys of life.

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a fun-loving, family friendly comedy. Sounds of laughter filled the auditorium during the production. The highlight of the show in my opinion was Paradizova’s portrayal of Lucy Van Pelt. Her singing voice and acting were spot on and brought humor to the show. Dance captains Jessica Morley (Frieda) and Julia Cleary (Eudora) choreographed each scene perfectly with the instruction of Mrs. Kristin Ruta, Colonia Dance Instructor. The costumes were also accurate and age appropriate for the five year old characters. Every line recited was audible to the entire crowd and the songs were endearing.
Although I enjoyed the musical, I felt this selection was more suitable for elementary school level children and not high schoolers. There was also no clear plot to the story line. It became confusing when the scenes jumped between holidays in the wrong order. I wish I knew what the moral of the story was at the end.
All in all You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown was a fantastic production put forth by Colonia High School. All of the cast members showed their hard work through their performance. I would recommend this musical to any family with young children.
